This is my granddaughter Brendi. She was a victim of abuse at the hands of her Mom's boyfriend. Brendi had just turned 1 when her nightmare began. Mom had a controlling boyfriend, who insisted Brendi stay with them over the Thanksgiving holiday. Brendi was only there a week when the boyfriend got upset with her crying and asking for momma. He squeezed her head so hard the doctors were amazed her skull did not crush. When we seen her on Thanksgiving morning there was no way she would ever be around that monster again! We do not know all she went through that week, she is still with us and a happy 17 month old toddler.
After Brendi's abuse came forward six others came forward as well. It only takes one little voice to tell, but we have to listen
to them. For those who do listen and press charges there are financial difficulties. There is not much out there to help victims. We had to handle all cost, loss of time at work and any other cost that came her way. We would spend any amount of money or time it took, but some people do not have the resources. We can help a child with the money we spend on coffee, cigarettes, sodas or any little luxuries we enjoy. We are not asking for you to break the bank, JUST HELP BREAK THE CYCLE!!!
I was the victim of abuse,and knew what it is to pray for help that would never come. this made me an over protective mom. I know I am an over protective grandmother, but my grandbabies know they can count on me to do whatever it takes to keep them safe. I know we will never save every child from this demon, butwe must try our best.
This is my grandbaby! I would do anything I needed to do to keep her safe.
